Update on Explosion at Textron Aviation’s East Campus

An update on the explosion at Textron Aviation’s Plant 3 in Wichita, IAM District Lodge 70 President and Directing Business Representative, Cornell Beard said in a statement on site, “The Textron explosion has not claimed any lives although, some are hurt. We have spoken with family members of employees still at the hospital and they are in good spirits, although most of the injured have already been released. We are blessed that our union family is safe and there was no loss of life today.
Textron officials are meeting with the other employees in the activity center on the East Campus, who were working at the time of the explosion to update them on how they will be able to retrieve personal items in the building or parking lot after the Fire Department allows reentry to those areas.
Textron has provided a phone number for employees to check on the status of releasing employees into the building or the parking lot to retrieve personal items, that number is 316-517-5252.”
