IAM Educator

The William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center is pleased to announce that a new issue of IAM Educator, an indispensable resource for union stewards, is now available. This issue investigates the rise of child labor in the workplace and how unions can use their strength to combat the trend and make workplaces safer for all workers. It also has articles on union membership gains and the NLRB ruling that employers must reimburse lost wages and other fees workers incur when illegally fired for organizing in the workplace.

Prescription Safety Eyewear Locations

Textron Aviation employees have a union-negotiated benefit in Article 42.14, of up to $150 allowance for prescription safety eyewear annually through a company-approved vendor.

Safe Vision, by Hoya, is an approved company vendor that schedules in-house times and locations on a weekly/monthly basis. If you work an off-shift or miss an allocated time, there are additional off-site locations where you can order your safety eyeglasses, and we’ve put the list together for your convenience.

2023 Doggie Bowl – Saturday, October 7, 2023

Each year the IAM, its Districts, and Locals plan fundraising events that support the mission of Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines, which is dedicated to providing guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually impaired men and women from the United States and Canada so they may continue to pursue their goals with increased mobility and independence.

Guide Dogs of America and Tender Loving Canines is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no State or Federal funding and operates solely on generous donations and contributions.

It costs approximately $60,000, for puppy birth, puppy raising, training, and finally graduation for a Guide Team (Guide Dog & Recipient), which is why we need your support. You can partner with us to help them achieve this mission by sponsoring a lane at District Lodge 70’s 10th Annual Doggie Bowl.

For questions call Kimberly Murrow or Teressa Peart at the District Lodge 70 office: 316-522-1591
